Abraham I. Gordon
Rotary International Vice-president 1999-2000
Abraham I. Gordon of Fairfield, Connecticut, was recently appointed to serve as Vice-President of the global service organization, Rotary International, from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000. Rotary has 29,000 clubs in 161 countries. This is the first time in almost thirty years that this honor has come to a person from New England.
Mr. Gordon is an attorney and partner in the Bridgeport, CT law firm of Gordon & Scalo, Esqs. A Rotary member since 1973, he is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

He has served Rotary International as a district governor for Connecticut, delegate to the organization's 1992 and 1995 Councils on Legislation, and as presidential representative to numerous local and regional conferences.
Mr. Gordon is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport and the Duke University School of Law. He serves on the Professional Discipline Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before both the Connecticut and the Federal Court systems and serves by special appointment of the Chief Justice as an Attorney Trial Referee in the court system. He is a trustee of the University of Bridgeport, a past president of the Bridgeport Heart Association and served for over 30 years as a volunteer civilian boat crew and aircraft pilot for search & rescue for the US Coast Guard. He is a General Aviation Pilot and an Amateur Radio Operator and belongs to the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians and the Rotarians of Amateur Radio. In 1988 he was named (jointly with his wife) "Most Distinguished Alumnus" of the University of Bridgeport.
He is married to Marilyn S. Gordon (a member of the Rotary Club of Fairfield, Connecticut) and they are the parents of Bruce S. Gordon and Dana E. Gordon and the grandparents of Alan Gordon, Matthew Gordon and Samantha Gordon.
